Mandy Moore was born on April 10th 1984 in Nashua New Hampshire. Since she was two monthes old she moved to Orlando. She has lived there ever since. When Mandy was six she saw her first musical Oklahoma. From that day she was hooked on becoming a singer. She spend lots of time just "jumping on my bed and singing"and would walk around the house belting out tunes from the little mermaid. Mandy's parents Don and Stacy thought that her singing was cute, but just a phase. Only this phase didn't seem to be passing. After 3 years of Mandy's singing her parents starting realizing the singing thing was here to stay. WBy age 9 Mandy was begging them for singing and dancing lessons. They finally agreed and Mandy basically enroled in every class a young preformer can take. She learned to sing and act and was devoted to her tap dancing lessons. She was a pop warner cheerleader at Rock Lake middle school in Altamonte Springs , FL. "I actually liked school when I was in school. I was a weird kid I guess." The best thing Mandy did for her careerv was go to musical theather summer camp. This gave her a chance to see what preformance was like. This also helped her land her first singing role Ngana in a local production of the musical South Pacific. After that she appeared in dozens of musicals in central FL. She had leads in Bye Bye Birdie and Guys and Dolls. New doors started opening for Mandy whenshe won a local singing contest a got to preform the "Star-Spangled Banner" for Chris Evert's Pro-Celebrity Tennis Tournament. "I sent a tape of myself singing the national anthem to the Orlando magic and they liked it. So I got to sing in front of thousand people. After that it was a domino effect. Every Sports team in Orlando was like,'Hey you're that little girl that sang the Anthem...do you want to do it for us?And I ended up ding it like a hundred times a year..." She soon became known as the Star Spangled Banner Girl. Soon Mandy's schedule was crazy. She had so many job oppertunities. She was doing advertisements, commercials, for chevrolet Cars, Cadbury Chocolate, Kmart, and Epcot Center. She was singing doing jingles, doing voiceovers. When Mandy was 13 she laned a job singing the theme song for a local TV show. One of the producers working on the project liked what he heard and invited Mandy to come to TransContinental Studios to make a "demo"-a recording that aspring singers send to music exexs when trying to get a record deal. In the studio mandy got a second lucky break. A talent scout heard her and was floored by her voice. He quickly sent her unfinished tape to a few friends in the music biz. "He didn't even tell me he was doing it!" she said. Before long, three major lables were offering her deals. Her parents were still questioning this. It was a lot for a 13 year old to handle. Of course in the End Mandy signed with Snoy record division, 550. She landed a Major record deal and was only thirteen years old! She was very happy with the result of her first song "So Real" "My music is kinda different from whats out there right now. It's pop but it has a little bit of rock and r&b in it too." She landed two big gigs opening fopr N'SYNC'S 1999 summer tour and then opening for Backstreet Boys fall tour. This was a dream come true for 15 year old Mandy. she said she "learned everything from them." The crouds loved Candy when she preformed it. She spend hours beofre and after the show signing autographs. By this time she was being called the candy girl. Candy was realased after the Nsync tour. It was an overnight hit. It sold over 500,000 copies and the video became a hit on Mtv's TRL. Candy did better than anyone expected. The album was realased in December 1999 instead of sometime in 2000. Now came Mtv. She was already a regular guest vj on Trl but wondered if she could expand her role. Mtv signed her to a three year deal to apperar in some of their own shows including, fanatic, Summer Beach house, Snowed in, Spring Break 2000, Rock "N" Jock and Fashionably Loud. Mandy also had her own TV show on Mtv. She also became the global spokesperson for Neutrogena because of her perfect skin-of course! She has also modeled for Tommy Hilfiger and Wet Seal. she has also appeared in a ton of tv shows. Mandy says she wanted to be just like Madonna. Mandy finished high school with a tuter but is still very close to her old school friends. Her family travels with her to spend as much time with her as possible. Mandy's acting career has rapidly started picking up. In 2001 she appeared in Princess diaries as Lana the stuck up cheerleader. Her newest album Mandy Moore was released on Juny 26 2001. It had a more mature spin to it. Many was 17 when it was released so she wanted a different sound. "In my pocket was the first Single" off the Album. It was a BIG hit. "Crush" hit the top next. In early 2002 Mandy Moore's hit role in A Walk to Remember made her mutli popular. A new look a new style a new life for 17 year old Mandy. The maovie was a HUGE Hit and that wasn't the end of her acting career. Mandy is working on two new movies Try Seventeen and How to Deal. Now 18 year old Mandy is getting the Best Dressed award everywhere she goes. Cry the latest single from a walk to remember was of course big and she even preformed it for the presidnet.
